Omega two-speed motors are three-phase motors that can switch their output speed and power between two steps. Separate designs are available for constant-torque loads and for variable-torque loads such as fans and pumps, where torque changes with the square of the speed.
Dahlander windings allow only a 1:2 speed ratio. With two separate windings, other ratios such as 2/6, 4/6 or 6/8 are possible in addition to 1:2. Omega builds multi-speed motors in every frame size from 80 to 355, and the rated output depends on the chosen speed combination.
Applications
- Heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC)
- Ventilation fans
- Machines requiring different speed steps
