GAMAK ex-proof motors are built to IEC standards for safe operation where explosive gas, vapour or dust may be present. The cast iron housing is flameproof (Ex d), preventing any spark or hot surface inside the motor from igniting the surrounding atmosphere.
The series is certified II 2G Ex db IIC T4 Gb for gas and II 2D Ex tb 135 °C for dust atmospheres. It covers 0.18–55 kW in frames 71–250 with 2, 4, 6 or 8 poles. All motors have IP65 protection and thermistors against overheating, and paint thickness and fan material are chosen to prevent static build-up.
