When a drive reduces motor speed, the motor's own fan can no longer move enough air. ELK externally cooled motors solve this with an independent forced-ventilation fan attached to the fan cover; because it runs independently of motor speed, cooling is maintained across the whole speed range.

Where an encoder is fitted to the rear end shield, the shaft fan cannot be used, so cooling is again provided by the forced fan. For systems that need both braking and synchronised operation, brake, encoder and forced fan can be mounted together at the rear of the motor.

Applications

  • Inverter drives running at low speed
  • Drives operating over a wide speed range
  • Systems synchronised by encoder

Custom manufacturing options

  • Encoder
  • Electromagnetic brake
  • PTC thermistors
